Thank You Hoogland Center!

I have to wholeheartedly thank the Hoogland Center for bringing Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar to Springfield. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us here in Springfield to see such a unique and talented musical group.

I've been interested in Turkish, Serbian, Macedonian, Iranian, Indian folk/brass/gypsy music for years now (thanks to the Secret Chiefs 3 for opening my eyes to world music), and I've been particularly impressed by Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar. They are amazing.

If you're not familiar with Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar and their Serbian gypsy brass music, you really owe it to yourself to go and check it out. The music is amazing. Fast-paced, rhythmic, and the guys really know how to play together. They can make changes and alter their speed on a dime. It really makes you feel like swaying and moving.

The tickets are only $15 a piece, and they're playing on a Sunday afternoon (July 20) at 4:00. Please, please, please go see these guys. If you like exploring new sounds and new experiences, check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Here's a great sample of Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar at work.

Odlazak u Noc - Boban Markovic Orkestar feat.

Update: It may seem like I'm totally geeked out about this. I am. It's so hard to catch good international bands like this in America. It is a real treat that these guys are stopping through Springfield. I mean, it's practically unheard of.
