This is our 2nd comedy in a row. We had tremendous fun with This is Spinal Tap last month and I an
ticipate that this will be as fun or more. We don't want people to get the wrong impression of what we are doing with the Movie Geeks Club. It is still about getting together and watching good and interesting films that we have not all necessarily seen. In other words, they won't all be comedies of this caliber. However, this showing will have plenty of laughs.

However, this showing will have plenty of laughs.The story is about the government trying take over land which happens to be in the town of Rock Ridge. The state Attorney General (Harvey Korman) needs everyone to leave this town so that a cheap route for the railroad can be built. He first sends in a gang of thugs but when the townspeople demand a new sheriff, he appoints an African American sheriff (Cleavon Little) 
with the idea that the white town will be appalled and leave town. The movie crosses many lines including the boundary between the film and its audience. The film also stars Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn. Mel Brooks directs and acts in the film.

There is no way it could be made now with all that racist content, but I guess that it was makes it classic. The fact that everyone was willing to go so far to make it funny and really play into the stereotypes. I wish I was in town for this.
